Summer is almost over and we return to our routine or better yet create a new one. It is important that we include the habit of a good healthy breakfast every day. The body needs important nutrients to give us energy for the whole day. Breakfast is the gasoline that helps us have enough energy for our activities. Mornings can be fun and healthy at the same time.
Breakfast means breaking the fast since we have not eaten anything for 6 or 8 hours. An ideal breakfast should include good carbohydrates, protein, and fruits. Full breakfast not only helps our body to work better but also to maintain weight, and reduce hunger during the day.
Good carbohydrates are for example cereal or whole wheat bread, oatmeal, high fiber cereals, wheat tortillas, vegetables.
Proteins, composed of amino acids help our body to function better and help ourselves to have enough energy to work and do our activities. These can be salmon, eggs, vegetables, meat and nuts among others.
Breakfast is a good time to include fruits since these are a great contribution to water, fibers, and vitamins that help our body to work better. Some people prefer to eat whole fruits but others prefer to make smoothies by combining them with vegetables for a better benefit.
For breakfast, we have many nutritious and fun options to combine these three key elements: carbohydrates, proteins, and fruits. Lately, we have seen that bowls have increased their popularity. For me, they are an excellent option at breakfast time. They are easy to prepare and we can be creative when it comes to making them.
We need important nutrients to give us energy for the whole day.
We can make the classic Greek yogurt with fruits such as apples, bananas or strawberries and some granola cereal that has nuts. Also, it is possible to accompany it with some chia seeds. It has a preparation time of 3 minutes.
If you want something more elaborate you can make a bowl with a base of fruit smoothie with a frozen banana and some mango pieces. Then add toppings such as seeds, other fruits or some cereals.
Toasts are also a nice option to start the day. As I already mentioned, cereal bread is a source of carbohydrates that help with the functioning of our body. As a result, the traditional avocado toast is one of the most desirable options, we can add an egg on top and it would be great! Either with guacamole format or with slices of it. Another also traditional toast is the peanut butter (or almond) toast with banana slices.
For me, eggs at breakfast are inevitable. In addition, eggs are rich in protein, vitamins, iron, calcium, potassium, and zinc. Whether fried, made in tortilla or benedict are always a very complete option for breakfast.
You already have a variety of reasons and options to start the day with a rich nutritious breakfast. It doesn’t have to be something very elaborate but it does comply with what it is necessary for our body to work well. And the most important thing is to take the time to sit down and have breakfast in peace, even if we have to wake up a few minutes before to start our days well.
